COVID-19 Screening Tests are currently available in Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital. As an extension of our effort to serve the community, the Hospital is working with Gribbles Pathology Laboratory to provide this service. The sampling collection will be conducted at Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital by our healthcare professional in a safe and controlled sampling kiosk.

All screening test is only available by appointments

Screening Criteria

Who are eligible for the COVID-19 screening?

  • Individuals without symptoms who wish to screen for COVID-19.
  • Individuals with symptoms but no travel history related to COVID-19, for the past 14 days.
  • Individuals with symptoms but no history of contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, for the past 14 days.

 Who are not eligible for the COVID-19 screening?

Individuals who experience any of these signs and symptoms – fever (38° & above), cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or sudden loss of taste and/ or smell, and met any of the criteria below:

For the past 14 days,

  • Have traveled to, resided in, or returned from a red zone area or a foreign country.
  • Had any close contact with confirmed COVID-19 case.
  • Attended an event or mass gathering.

If you experience any signs and symptoms, and meet any of the criteria as stated above, we would advise you to go to the nearest public healthcare facility for further management.

Why would I (without any symptoms) want to get the COVID-19 screening?

  • Screening allows us to find out if we are a carrier to COVID-19.
  • Some countries require visitors to be screened for COVID-19 before allowing entry.
  • The incubation period for COVID-19 is between 2 to 14 days. This means that a person who has the virus can appear perfectly healthy up to 14 days after contracting the virus before experiencing any signs and symptoms.

How do I proceed to make an appointment?

Step 1:

Step 2:

Submit the online questionnaire. Kindly wait for us to contact you via the contact information you have submitted. We will advise you accordingly on your eligibility for the test, payment options and appointment confirmation.

How do I make the advance payment?

Step 3:

Price for MMCH Patient: RM200.00

Once our customer service has confirmed your eligibility to do the COVID-19 screening, you are required to make an advance payment via online banking. Please do not proceed to make the payment before we confirm your eligibility as there will be no refund. We sincerely apologize as we will not be able to accept cash payment for this service to encourage social distancing and limit the risk of infection.

How will I be notified of the confirmation for my appointment?

Step 4:

Once we have received the payment, our customer service will contact you to notify the date and time of your appointment for the screening test.

Screening Procedure

How long is the screening procedure?

It will take approximately 10 – 15 minutes.

How should I prepare for the screening?

You are not required to fast, but it is recommended to avoid heavy meals 2 hours prior to the test.

What should I do when I come for the screening? 

You may proceed directly to our COVID-19 screening kiosk. You will be asked to show the e-mail confirmation of your appointment and NRIC/ Passport for verification. Click for directions.

How is the screening test performed?

The swab collection will be done in a safe and controlled sampling kiosk. The procedure will be conducted by our trained healthcare professional. After the swab is taken, it will be sent to our laboratory partner, Gribbles Pathology Laboratory, for testing.

How will I receive the screening test result?

You will receive your result within 24 – 48 hours via e-mail.

Which test method does the Hospital employ?

We are working with Gribbles Pathology Laboratory to run the test using a technique called Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR).

The Ministry of Health Malaysia has recommended testing patients for COVID-19 using the RT-PCR technique. The test looks at the specific genetic material of the COVID-19 virus to determine whether it is present or not. The RT-PCR test is also recommended for people without any symptoms.

How accurate is the test?

According to the latest study, the RT-PCR screening technique has 99% accuracy.
