Patient and companion who meets the clinical and epidemiological criteria of suspected COVID-19 cases are compulsory for both of them to do COVID-19 screening before visiting Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital.
Which type of COVID-19 screening should I do?
- Option 1: RTK Antigen
This screening test has a validation period/ time frame of ONLY 24 HOURS from the time the swab is done.
Example: If the test is done at 9.15 am on 11 September 2020, the result is only valid till 9.15 am on 12 September 2020.
- Option 2: PCR Test
This screening test has a validation period/time frame of ONLY 72 HOURS (3 DAYS) from the time the swab is done.
Example: If the test is done on 11th September 2020, the result is only valid till 14th September 2020.
* The Hospital reserves the right to decline your entry into the Hospital if the results are past validity.
When/ to who should I present my COVID-19 screening results?
You are required to show your original COVID-19 screening result to our staff at the Triage Counter (entrance).
*Should you fail to present the original screening results, the Hospital has the right to decline your entry into its premises.
For patients who require Radiation on a daily basis:
We advise the patient to stay in Penang at a Hotel or Homestays: around the Hospital for easy access via transportation (MMCH also provides FREE pick-up from Hotel/ Homestays within 5km)
Should you wish to return back to Kedah on a daily basis, you will need to repeat the PCR Test every three (3) days until the completion of your treatment, or the RTK test every day.
For patients who require Chemotherapy based on their cycle:
You will need to do the RTK Antigen screening before every treatment cycle.
Can I enter if I am transferred from another Hospital?
Yes, you are able to enter the Hospital if you are transferred from another Healthcare provider by an Ambulance, once your case is accepted by a Consultant in this Hospital. But, your companion will require to do the RTK Antigen test before entry into this Hospital.
